Shanghai Superconductor Wins YBCO Superconducting Tape Tender from Institute of Electrical Engineering of the CAS
2015-03-25
In March 2015, Shanghai Superconductor participated in the tender for YBCO superconducting tape for superconducting magnets organized by the Institute of Electrical Engineering, CAS. Shanghai Superconductor emerged as the winning bidder among numerous well-known domestic and international companies, thanks to our high-quality products and services. This tender marked the first public procurement in the Chinese market for over 1 km of second-generation high-temperature superconducting tape. Companies such as American Superconductor Corporation, SuperPower Inc. (now a subsidiary of Furukawa Electric of Japan), and Innova Superconductivity Technology Co., Ltd. (agent for SuNAM of South Korea) also participated in the tender.

The fact that the YBCO superconducting tape developed and produced by Shanghai Superconductor stood out against products from the United States, Japan, and South Korea, and became the first Chinese company to win a public tender for second-generation high-temperature superconducting tape, fully demonstrates Shanghai Superconductor’s strong R&D and production capabilities in YBCO superconducting tape. This achievement also holds profound significance for establishing China’s position in the high-temperature superconductivity industry.
