Congratulations to Startorus Fusion for Successfully Developing an 18T D-shaped High-Temperature Superconducting Magnet, with Shanghai Superconductor Supplying All High-Temperature Superconducting Tapes
2024-02-05
Recently, Startorus Fusion, in collaboration with Tsinghua University, successfully developed a prototype of a D-shaped high-temperature superconducting (HTS) magnet with a maximum field strength of 18T, the highest field strength reported for a D-shaped magnet in China to date. The successful operation of this magnet lays a solid foundation for the design of its next-generation devices. Moving forward, Startorus Fusion will continue to optimize the magnet design and operating scheme, aiming to achieve the design target of a 25T field strength.

Shanghai Superconductor has maintained a close partnership with Startorus Fusion, providing high-performance HTS tapes for the winding of this magnet. In the future, Shanghai Superconductor will continue to supply high-performance HTS tapes in bulk to support Startorus Fusion's research and innovation in high-temperature superconducting fusion magnets.
