SST 2025: A Year of Execution, Breakthroughs and a Galloping Start into 2026

The Year of the Snake 2025 marked another year of execution and impact for Shanghai Superconductor Technology (SST). We continued to push the boundaries across production, technology, and market development.

Scale-Up on Track

With Phase II Plant now in steady operation, we have doubled our production yield to 4,000 km/year, while deploying automation upgrades to drive higher efficiency and consistency. Civil engineering work for Phase III factory has also commenced, targeting a total capacity of 20,000 km/year by end of 2027.

R&D Breakthroughs & Supply Diversification

Through an exclusive collaboration with Shanxi TISCO, we successfully localized the production and supply of Hastelloy substrates. Our in-house REBCO target team delivered more than 300 targets and achieved a production capacity of 1,000 targets per year.

Market Recognition

SST’s HTS products were deployed in nine breakthrough projects spanning compact fusion, high-current HTS conductors, high-field magnets, superconducting cables, parallel superconducting reactors, superconducting magnetic energy storage systems, and monocrystalline silicon furnaces. We participated in over 20 major events worldwide—and our tapes are now on display at the National Museum of China!
