Deputy Minister of Industry and Information Technology Visits Shanghai Superconductor

On the afternoon of March 17, 2017, Deputy Minister Xu Lejiang of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, along with Mr. Yuan Qinghai, Chief Engineer of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and other members of the delegation, visited Shanghai Superconductor for an inspection and exchange. They aimed to understand the technological achievements in high-temperature superconducting (HTS) tape and the future development plans for the superconducting industry. Accompanied by the President, Vice President, and other staff members of Shanghai Superconductor, the delegation toured the company’s continuous production line for second-generation HTS tape and the superconducting exhibition hall.

Dr. Hong Zhiyong, Vice President of Shanghai Superconductor, introduced the principles of superconducting wireless charging to Minister Xu Lejiang.

He explained the structure and performance of second-generation HTS tape to the leadership.

He demonstrated the production line for second-generation HTS tape to the leadership.

During the visit, the company showcased its R&D achievements of the past few years and provided a detailed report on the manufacturing process, specific performance, application projects, and future development roadmap of second-generation HTS tape. After the tour, the leadership expressed full affirmation of our technological achievements and hoped that Shanghai Superconductor would continue to enhance the cost-performance ratio of its products, accelerate the application of high-temperature superconductivity, and thus vigorously promote the development of China’s superconducting industry.
