Milestone for the "Going Global"of Second-Generation High-Temperature Superconducting Tape: Shanghai Superconductor Makes Its Debut at the ASC International Stage

From September 4 to 9, 2016, Shanghai Superconductor attended the ASC Conference in the United States. The ASC Conference, formally known as “The Applied Superconductivity Conference,” is the largest and most prestigious international scientific event in the field of superconductivity, boasting a 50-year history. Over 1,000 top scientists and engineers from around the world in the superconductivity field gathered at this ASC Conference. During the conference, they engaged in “intellectual collisions,” exchanging and discussing the latest research findings and technological breakthroughs in superconductivity and proposing new ideas and perspectives for the future development of superconducting technology. At this conference, Dr. Wu Wei, Dr. Wu Xiang, and Dr. Zhang Zhiwei from the Shanghai Superconductor research team respectively presented reports on the latest research achievements and technological breakthroughs of Shanghai Superconductor. Their presentations attracted significant attention from many attendees, who also inquired in detail about our tape manufacturing processes.

Concurrently with the conference and at the same venue, the ASC exhibition took place, featuring companies from various countries related to superconductivity, such as American Superconductor, SuperPower, SuNAM, etc. These companies showcased their latest progress, products, technologies, and services to all attendees. At this ASC exhibition, Shanghai Superconductor, as the only domestic exhibitor and participant in the field of second-generation high-temperature superconducting tape, made its full debut on the international ASC stage. This marked an important milestone for the “going global” of domestic second-generation HTS tape. During the exhibition, Shanghai Superconductor presented to attendees from around the world the different types of sample tapes it has independently developed and produced. The company also communicated the core advantages of its superconducting tape and the directions for superconducting applications, ultimately gaining unanimous recognition from industry experts.
